A Detailed Analysis of Ultimatum Runs for PoE 2 Currency Farming

Path of Exile 2 continues to evolve, with new mechanics introduced to enhance gameplay and farming strategies. One prominent feature that has garnered attention is the Ultimatum. In this article, we will delve into the intricacies of farming the Ultimatum mechanic, analyzing its profitability, the various drops available, and how players can maximize their currency gains. This analysis is based on running 50 Ultimatum instances and the results gathered from those runs.

Understanding the Soul Cores

One of the most lucrative aspects of the Ultimatum runs is the Soul Cores. Across 50 runs, I managed to obtain a total of 150 Soul Cores. Each run typically yields at least three cores, making it a consistent source of income. Here’s a breakdown of the Soul Cores collected:

Type of Soul Core Quantity Average Price (Exalted) Total Value (Exalted)
Top 10 Cores 26 6 156
City Quartal 18 8 144
Teati 26 15 390
Giquani 10 25 250
Tikaba 15 140 2100

From these Soul Cores, Tikaba proved to be the most profitable, with each core valued at around 140 exalted. This meant that just from the Tikaba cores alone, I generated approximately 16 divines. Overall, the Soul Cores contributed significantly to my total loot, with an impressive average of half a divine per run.

Additional Currency Gains and Boss Drops

Beyond the Soul Cores, I also encountered various opportunities to acquire additional currency. Throughout the runs, I gathered a total of 117 Chaos Orbs and several Path of Exile 2 Divine Orbs. The drop rates for these items added a significant boost to my overall earnings:

  • 117 Chaos Orbs, roughly equating to about 5 divines.
  • One Divine Orb dropped from a boss encounter.

When combined with the Soul Cores, the total currency gathered reached approximately 32 divines. This reflects a successful and efficient farming strategy, especially since it allows players to run multiple Ultimatums in a relatively short time.

However, it’s essential to consider the risk involved with the boss fights. Each boss encounter costs approximately 1,500 exalted for the necessary masks—Deadly Fate, Cowardly Fate, and Victorious Fate. Despite the hefty investment, the chance of dropping an Adorn is only around 2%. In my runs, I did not receive an Adorn, resulting in a net loss of around 11.5 divines just for the boss fights.

Is Ultimatum Farming Worth It?

In conclusion, while the Ultimatum farming method is generally profitable, the boss fights can be a gamble that may not pay off. My recommendation is to focus on running the Ultimatum instances for Soul Cores and the additional currency drops, as these provide a safer and more reliable source of income. For those interested in trading, you can find valuable items and currency at PoE 2 trade or acquire rare items.

Farming Ultimatum remains a viable and enjoyable activity, especially for those who prefer a mix of risk and reward. As the game evolves, staying informed about the latest mechanics and potential profits will enhance your Path of Exile 2 journey.
